My Story:
Hi, I’m Michaela! I’m currently in my fifth year of teaching music to PreK-5th grade students in the public school system. My love for music started early in my childhood, first as a singer and later as a pianist. In middle school, I picked up the trumpet, and I continued playing in the band throughout high school and college. During college, I developed a passion for composing, ethnomusicology, percussion, and the ukulele. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education, and I am certified to teach music to students in Kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade.
As a composer, I’m passionate about creating music that fosters collaboration and brings students together in unique ways, such as a piece of music that calls for an elementary Ukulele Ensemble and a high school concert band. I also enjoy scoring music for ukulele, kalimba, and steel pans (or Jumbie Jams!).
On my YouTube channel, Michaela Korte Music, I share resources that I’ve created for my music classroom in the hopes that other music educators (or at-home learners) can use them, too!
This website is a space where I hope to share music education resources, original compositions, and occasional music-related blog posts. Please feel free to explore at your leisure, and happy playing!
